Ilario Liburni returns to his own Invade Records this May with his four-track ‘What Is Time Travel’ EP which features a remix from Alexander Skancke. Italian producer Ilario Liburni has carved out a distinct space within the European underground through a body of work rooted in stripped-back house, minimal, and techno. As the founder of Invade Records, established in Belgium in 2013, he’s cultivated a platform that champions raw, groove-led club music, hosting contributions from leading figures such as Ricardo Villalobos, tINI, and Dan Ghenacia. Alongside his label work, Liburni’s own productions have appeared on respected imprints including Adam’s Bite, Cardinal Records, a sister platform to Invade, and Into The Wizard’s Sleeve, reinforcing his reputation for delivering deep, hypnotic cuts with a functional yet nuanced sensibility. Title cut ‘What Is Time Travel’ opens the release, weaving warped bass flutters with organic percussion and hypnotic spoken-word vocals. ‘Keep Laughing’ follows, shifting the energy into rising atmospheres, swinging rhythms and choppy vocal fragments. Next, Alexander Skancke delivers a remix of ‘What Is Time Travel’, distilling the original into a stripped-back, loop-driven framework enhanced by spiralling, evolving effects. The release closes with ‘Transcendent Beauty’, a buoyant club-ready cut built on gritty bass stabs, airy textures and low-pitched vocal chants of the title, all underpinned by Liburni’s crisp, swinging drum work.
