Smallville welcomes the return of Snad with his new three-track ‘EP, ‘Dispo’, featuring a fifteen-minute sonic excursion as the title-cut on the A-Side and two more slick deep grooves on the flip. Snad is a renowned purveyor of raw underground sounds and through releases on the likes of Scissor & Thread, Phonica, 20:20 Vision, and Courtesy Of Blance has carved out a refined, groove-driven sound rooted in late-night club culture, where crisp rhythms and subtle emotion take center stage. Here we see him making a welcome return to Smallville, following 2024’s ‘Bubblescope’ EP. First up with title-track ‘Dispo’, Snad lays down a near fifteen minutes of circling stab sequences, dynamic percussion, crisp, shuffled drums and bubbling synth oscillations alongside choppy vocal chants which all evolve, unfold and ebb and flow amongst one another throughout. ‘From Without’ opens the B-Side next, a more loop-led jam employing bouncy acid-tinged bass stabs, resonant flutters, dubby swells, airy chords and a swinging rhythm section. ‘Italosnadi’ then concludes the project, diving deep into ethereal atmospherics, hypnotic spoken word vocals, snaking low-end tones and intricately programmed drums.
