Rafa Santos continues the Mate label’s fine tradition of quality deep house excursions with a small, well-formed new 12″. Just one original features and it’s the A-side beauty ‘Our Journey’, an unhurried groove that is happy to wallow in soft piano chords, with icy hi-hats strewn through the mix and the main focus left on a sax line that rises and falls, sings and cries, all while a nagging vocal loop adds extra pain. Atlanta house hero Kai Alce drops an NDATL remix that brings more bump to the drums but keeps the emotional edge of the original. Class.
