Scotia, Hudson Valley USA’s high priestess of acid, returns to Chinotto Records with an EP featuring four hot new tracks: a pair of originals and Octo Octa and DJs Pareja remixes of last year’s Tarocco Singles Club release.

Scotia’s musical fate was sealed when she was gifted a used Juno 60 synth for her sixteenth birthday. Her star has been on the rise, with DJ sets at underground dance institutions Honcho, The Bunker, and Get Wrecked and Carry, tons of grassroots off-grid raves, and releases on LA-4A’s label Delft, Acid Camp, and The Bunker.

This record, like everything else, is about sex and death. A diptych of earthly life and the celestial void, side A starts with the thrashy funky horny title track “Lithophonix,” where the urgency of oversaturated, punchy 808 drums betrays a sensual bassline and vocal samples. Its counterpart “Timbale Kosmische” is a portrait of what lies beyond the veil: an expansive groove gurning toward the infinite.

For the remixes, Buenos Aires queer underground stalwarts DJs Pareja take “Chicka Stick” to peak time by way of driving 303 and bright synth work, their restraint building the tension that dancers crave. The album’s closer, living legend Octo Octa’s Gay Power Remix of “Sylvia Rivera,” is a meticulous all-hardware rework that spends a minute paying its respects to the original before gliding off into the realm of signature production work, breaks and all, with samples of Rivera’s impassioned speeches that are as relevant as ever.

Out July 29th digitally and on limited-edition vinyl (a run of 150 records, each a different color). Records come with an iron-on patch designed by Alessandro Neroni (two designs, randomly chosen).
